Big Band Tuesday #1 - Take the 'A' Train by Duke Ellington Orchestra

...ANOTHER new feature...although the 70's deal didn't happen on 11/24/12 (those dudes were all out for Thanksgiving...) - this weekly post will feature one of Huey's favorite tunes from one of Huey's favorite genres of music...Big Band / Swing / Jazz - whatever ya wanna call it (consult with Clarissa for specifics), it's gonna be in this spot more often than not...

We kick off this feature with one of the MOST awesome tunes from this era, "Take the 'A' Train", performed here by 'Sir' Duke Ellington and his Orchestra... to me, a very complete 'capture' of what Big Band / Jazz style is all about...

Super Seventies Saturday #1 - Brandy (You're a Fine Girl) - by Looking Glass

...new weekly feature for y'all...

I'm a child of the 70's (well, born in the Summer of Love, and MAY have been (but most likely not) one of the little naked babies roaming around the grounds of Woodstock...) - so, I grew up with 70's music...which was the hippest, most happening, groovy and COOL era of popular music....EV-AHHHHHH!!!! (well, of course, I love ANYTHING Ginger utters, and big band stuff also, along with blues and metal...some country, and quite a bit of R&B - Soul stuff... which generally is all encompassed in 70's tunes!) ANYWAY, we kick things off with installment #1, the tune "Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)" by Looking Glass...one of the quintessential 'one-hit wonder' bands from the early 70's...
so, here ya go... sorry for the 'intro commercial', but...those typically precede the 'best version' of a given video:

...This tune has always been one of my faves, and I could probably do a pretty mean karaoke version of it... so be on the lookout for that...riiiiiight....  anyway, cool tune that has that definite 70's 'vibe'...

This will hopefully be a 'weekly' installment, if anything, to get a bit of 'structure' to this burgeoning blog... hope ya dig it...

Finding Bigfoot...

...time to watch the squatch!!!

...er, guess y'all can tell I dig the lore and legend of Bigfoot... I remember going to see a 'documentary' movie about Bigfoot back when I was a young'un in the 70s... and I thought it was pretty cool then... guess I still do...

The only question I have is, what happens when they actually ENCOUNTER a squatch? Will they try to communicate with it? Or, shoot it with a tranquilizer dart, 'tag it and bag it', and send it off to the research folks?

Only time will tell... in the meantime...to the BFRO Warriors... Godspeed... and keep hope alive!!!
