Big Band Tuesday #1 - Take the 'A' Train by Duke Ellington Orchestra

...ANOTHER new feature...although the 70's deal didn't happen on 11/24/12 (those dudes were all out for Thanksgiving...) - this weekly post will feature one of Huey's favorite tunes from one of Huey's favorite genres of music...Big Band / Swing / Jazz - whatever ya wanna call it (consult with Clarissa for specifics), it's gonna be in this spot more often than not...

We kick off this feature with one of the MOST awesome tunes from this era, "Take the 'A' Train", performed here by 'Sir' Duke Ellington and his Orchestra... to me, a very complete 'capture' of what Big Band / Jazz style is all about...
Hope you enjoy! And, I DO take requests... well, heck, most ANY tune you need is on YouTube, which this, in essence, is working as a 'YouTube' channel of sorts...
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving, and is getting back into the 'groove' of things in your day-to-day affairs...

Until next time...

  1. I love that song! It's one of my favorite songs from that era.

What's awesome is in a Grand Theft Auto game I have(not sure if you've heard of it) for the Playstation 3, on one of the radio stations in the game, they have this song. I was kinda happy when I heard it lol.

    KIG!

  2. ...interesting this tune made it onto that game...isn't it kind aon the 'violent' side? well, when it first came out, anyway...I'm sure compared to the current games, it's pretty tame... nice to know it's there...

I will hopefully keep up with these 'entries'...heck, most any tune you can think of is on YouTube... in fact, I might just round up as many GingerTunes as I can, and then if there's others I have, try to figure out how to make a video to place on YouTube...

Thanks for commenting! Hopefully this blog will catch on...I might mention it again to folks... it's really designed to be a 'what's on my mind' blog... hopefully can post a bit more often here...

    KIG!!!

  3. Well I would say since now there's bettter graphics and all that, it is actually a bit more violent and crude with language then it's 2D counterpart of the first game. But I enjoy the radio stations and driving around the most lol. But yeah, I have Grand Theft Auto 4, and it has a Jazz radio station, so I listen to that. :)

Hopefully you can post more on here eventually! Would like to see more.

    KIG too!!!

  4. ...well, just don;t let all that bad stuff affect your noggin! :-]

good that the tunes are there to 'temper' things a bit...

I'm going to make a 'habit' of big band stuff, as well as seventies tunes, which hopefully are cool as well... just wanna show folks what I grew up with there...and I guess what Ginger grew up with in the 30s and 40s... well, heck she was GROWN then...believe me... heck, she was on her 3rd gooberhead hub in the 40s!

Well, hope this is cool... and glad ya enjoyed it...I take requests!

    KIG!!!
